LAKE KOPA

The lake is located on the northwest side of the city of Kokshetau. Its history is very interesting: after all, at first there was a swamp on this place. After the arrival of the military in the city, an order was received to create an artificial lake. To do this, it was necessary to dig a special channel from the Shagalaly River so that clean water filled the swampy places. So, the swamp turned into a lake, which has an area of 14 sq.km. The Kylshakty River and the Shagalaly River flow into the lake, and the springs feeding it also beat at the bottom of the lake. The shores of the lake on the eastern and northern sides are flat, low, overgrown with grass. From the south and west, the shores of the lake are separated from the flat part by ramparts. In the south and west, the coastal part of the water surface is overgrown with reeds, the rest of the lake is clean. The lake serves as a place of rest and bathing for the townspeople.
