THE RESIDENCE OF ABYLAI KHAN

The museum complex was founded on November 13, 2007, as a historical museum. The museum building is a monument of urban planning and architecture. The historical and cultural value of the building lies in the fact that it is one of the first stone buildings in the mountainous part of the city. The history of this building is inextricably linked with legends and stories about the life and work of Abylai Khan, one of the first rulers who initiated the unification of the Kazakh lands.

YUZEFOVICH HOUSE, MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

Merchant Yuzefovich was one of the most influential people in Petropavlovsk. His mansion is a monument of wooden architecture. The two - storey house is built in the form of the letter T. Its architecture corresponds to the modern style. The Regional Museum of Fine Arts is located inside the building. Thanks to its exhibits, you can get a general idea of the culture of the region. There are more than 5 thousand exhibits: paintings by Vladimir Favorsky, Rudolf Khachatryan, Abylkhan Kasteev, Aubakir Ismailov, Nikolai Khludov, sculptures and graphics, decorative and applied art, ethnographic objects.

HOUSE OF VALIT YANGURAZOV

The house was conceived as a family estate of merchant Valit Yangurazov, but the merchant died suddenly without moving here. The two-storey building is made in the style of Art Nouveau and late Baroque by architects from Italy. A feature of the house is the building material used: the first floor is made of durable baked brick, and the attic is made of strong wood. During the years of Soviet power, the estate was transferred to the local administration, later the State Insurance Committee was located here, now a small museum with a thematic exposition dedicated to the life of the XVIII—XX centuries is based in the house.

BOTANICAL GARDEN

A unique complex of landscape art, where palm trees and lemons, oriental thuja, jasmine, and other exotic plants from around the world are living. The garden was founded in 1912 and is one of the oldest in Kazakhstan. Initially, it was created to grow bay leaves and onions for a meat canning plant, now it is a specially protected area with a winter garden, arboretum, greenhouse, vivarium, and zoo corners. The attraction of the Winter Garden is a date palm, dated 1795, as well as an unusually beautiful tree native to Japan – Sakura.
